JODY KENNEDY INTERNATIONAL

Stranded in Uganda

Our dear friends and partners Bob and Gail Meade (Meade International) went to Uganda at the beginning of 2020 to conduct classes at their Lake Victoria Bible Institute. Today, the President of Uganda announced that no gatherings would be permitted in the country. They were in the middle of a week-long bible institute class when they got this word. They had to dismiss their students who had traveled to the institute for the class. Now they are trying to make arrangements to return to the U.S. and are facing barriers.

Please pray that Bob and Gail will be able to quickly and safely arrange travel back to Texas. Usually, air itineraries between the U.S. and Uganda are routed through Europe, which is mostly closed to foreign flights. I know their situation is not unique and that many of God’s missionaries are “stuck” away from home. Let’s include them in our prayers for safe travel, health and opportunities to minister in this crisis.

Stranded in Texas

Like you, we are somewhat stranded in our home. We were getting excited that we were about to launch into a new year of ministry with events scheduled for March, April and May. Those have all been cancelled or postponed. We are taking all prayer requests by email or by telephone and text message and will soon be involved in the BGEA coronavirus telephone and email prayer ministry.

We have suspended our plans to return to Nicaragua. We felt that we could travel at the end of April, but now that is not possible.

There is still a lot of opportunities as BGEA Crisis chaplains and we are preparing to meet these opportunities as they arise.

Nicaragua Update

Officially, the government of Nicaragua has reported only 1 case of COVID-19. Experience tells us that this is probably greatly understated. However, because their healthcare system, "medical care for all", is broken, it is for sure that they have no idea how many cases there are in the country.

At least, the Nicaraguan government has announced some steps and processes to slow or prevent the spread of the virus.

This should be a matter of prayer as we pray for those in our own country. Almost every country in the world has been effected.

Let's pray that we have the opportunity to minister and preach to those around us even in this time of "social distancing'.

Of course, we continue to support our partners in Nicaragua even as some of their situations become even more difficult.

We take every donation gratefully and seriously. We do not take a salary from the ministry so that every dollar goes into the work.

If you want to help us meet the needs of our ministry or support our Nicaraguan partners' families and our partner churches, donations in any amount will be used wisely to meet the these needs.
