One-Two-Three, What Are We Fightin' For...
June 11, 2011
The
opening line of this oldie reminds me of my youth in Commerce, Texas
during the 60's and early 70's when the hippies were doing their thing,
college students protested the war and those of the so-called
"enlightened generation" were ruining their minds with
anything they could set on fire and suck through a pipe. Commerce
was somewhat insulated from a lot of that, yet the small campus of East
Texas Teacher's College (later East Texas State University and now
Texas A&M at Commerce) had its share of civil disobedience and
hippies.
The
song goes on to answer the question with "I don't know and I don't
give a (care)" (expletive omitted).
Does
this have anything at all to do with today? As Christians, we
should be asking this question of ourselves - "What are we
fighting for?" Another way to phrase it might be, "What
are we striving for? We should know the answer, yet so many of
our Christian brothers and sisters (bound for Heaven for sure) can't
answer the question and what's more, don't really care.
Can
you answer? You should know for what you are striving.

By the time our medical team left Masatepe, Nicaragua
(Iglesia Nuevo Horizonte) there were 40+ new Christians who accepted
Christ while at our rural clinic. Fifteen Nuevo Horizonte
members spent the week with us welcoming patients, walking with them
through the process and sharing Christ with them in an individual and
personal way. About 310 patients of all ages passed through our
care and almost 1000 prescriptions were issued from our pharmacy.
In addition to the clinic, we provided love to the
children and presented three great Christian movies during our three
movie nights for the community. After each movie, Pastor Martin
brought a very short message and we saw some come to Christ after the
movies. The follow-up will continue as the church tries to
reconnect with each of the 310 patients and their families.
We are looking forward to organizing another medical
team to Nicaragua as early as January-February of 2012.

Pastor Martin and Imara Welcome a New Baby
On May 26, baby boy Pablo Kennedy Paiz was born.
Many of our team members have served with Pastor Martin and know that
family. We all have prayed for them as they trusted God to heal
little Martin who was so ill when he was only 2 years old. (Now
he's doing great.)
We prayed for them as they faced serious issues with
this pregnancy. Now mother and baby are doing well.
Pastor Martin asked us to thank you all for your prayers.
